WordPress Donation Plugin for Sports Clubs and Amateur Teams
Amateur sports clubs, youth teams and volunteer-run associations raise money for kits, travel, pitch hire and equipment. Many already have a WordPress site for fixtures and news. This guide shows how to add a donation form on that site with FundCollector, so supporters give without leaving for a third-party platform.
What sports clubs usually raise money for
Club fundraising is often specific and seasonal. Typical needs include:
- Playing kits, balls and training equipment
- Travel to tournaments or away fixtures
- Pitch, hall or court hire
- Referee and coaching costs
- A facility repair or a new piece of equipment
- Support so a player can stay in the team when a family cannot cover fees
A page that names the cost (“We need 1,200 for new youth kits before September”) converts better than a generic “support the club” appeal. Parents, alumni and local businesses want to know what the money buys.
What the donation page should say
Club supporters already know the team. They still need a clear page:
- The official club or association name
- What this collection is for, and by when
- Who receives the money (the club account, not a personal wallet)
- Whether the group is a registered association or an informal team
- A contact email for questions
If the club is not a registered charity, do not imply tax-deductible gifts. Honest wording builds more trust than borrowed nonprofit language. The same principle applies to informal associations.
One form per campaign, or one ongoing page
A kit drive or a tournament trip works well as a short campaign page with a deadline. Ongoing costs (hire, coaching) work better as a standing “support the club” page. FundCollector lets you create more than one form, so a seasonal campaign and a general support page can live side by side.

PayPal is a practical default: parents and local sponsors already know it, and it works worldwide. Bank transfer is useful for larger gifts from a local business or a committee member who prefers not to use a card.
